Should I Get My Food Allergies Tested? Um, Yes!
Over 95% of you reading this article should! 9 out of 10 of you are regularly eating something that is toxic to your body. Even many who think they have had food allergies tested have not been fully tested, leaving them confused about symptoms. Symptoms that can indicate chronic inflammation which can lead to serious disease. Are you poisoning yourself with your “healthy” food?
Have you diligently kept food journals only to be more confused? It’s OK if you haven’t. Some of us here have a hard time keeping track of our pens, let alone writing down every food we eat, and then the symptoms afterward. It sounds like a lot of work and a waste of time when you understand delayed reactions.
A common misconception is when we experience a symptom, we tend to attribute it to something we just ate, or at least ate within the last 24 hours. In actuality, it can take up to 72 hours for a symptom to manifest, so the headache you have today, might have been from the orange you ate 2 days ago! That makes figuring out your food allergies really tough!
Knowing this, it’s virtually impossible to pinpoint those trigger foods without being tested. Even if it’s just one food, don’t you want to know what is causing reactions in your system? We sure do!
You might not notice these reactions, or you might notice something, but not realize it’s a reaction to your food (yes, even your nutritious, organic food!).
Some food allergy symptoms could include:
- Ear Aches
- Mood Swings (Anxiety, Aggressiveness, Irritability)
- Fatigue
- Dark Circles Under Eyes
- Asthma
- Canker Sores
- Sinus Problems
- Acne
- Eczema
- Brain Fog
- Bloating, Excess Weight
- Headaches/Migraines
An Allergy is an Allergy
A patient comes into the clinic and says they have had their allergies tested but never their food “sensitivities.” Guys listen, allergies = hypersensitivities. Same exact thing. All of them are hypersensitivities. All allergies are a hypersensitive response from the body caused by exposure to an antigen.
Many people are familiar with the IgE classification because it gets the attention from allergists because they have a protocol on how to deal with it. It also has an immediate response with anaphylaxis or death.
IgE only accounts for 1% of the immune response. Is understanding 1% of your immune response enough for you? These could kill you quickly, but there is more to look at than just the IgE response. On the other hand, IgG represents 70% of the immune response and those symptoms from the list above. That irritating excess weight, fatigue, or acne could be a sign of an immune response and inflammation. Chronic inflammation can lead to serious illness like cancer, auto-immune disease, and heart disease. There is a lot of evidence that chronic inflammation predisposes you to cancer and the longer you have that inflammation the higher the risk. (2)
75% of the trillions of dollars that are spent on health care is for chronic disease, but we are focusing on a small portion of immune responses.
If Your Food Was Killing You – Would You Change it?
People get a lot of mixed messages about what is healthy food. Here eat these whole grains they are good for you but wait they are killing your gut. Eggs are evil- nope now they are good. There are so many contradicting diets pointing blame at certain food groups. The thing is- everybody is different. What works well in one body, doesn’t work in another. Foods can contribute or cause health problems, but you might not know it because the reaction is delayed.
Taking a test can narrow down the specific foods that are causing your symptoms and inflammation without the guessing and food journaling. Doesn’t a reliable testing option sound better? We work with Immuno Labs who has been doing allergy testing exclusively for over 35 years. There are 4 types of IgG responses and Immuno Labs tests all 4 with reproducible, reliable results. They are always working to improve their testing and their recent Microarray technology was independently tested and, “demonstrates high test and retest reliability (99.5%), far superior to the legacy ELISA process.”
This test is most frequently offered to our patients who are addressing health concerns. Every week at clinics across the nation, hundreds of people take this test and the majority of them getting relief after seeing the results and making changes. The results bring them relief from symptoms- sometimes symptoms they just thought were part of getting older. Does it seem worth it to find out for yourself? Are you poisoning your body with “healthy” food?
