Advice and Recipes That Will Make a Grill Master Proud
Who is your favorite grill master? For many of us -it’s our dads. How many of you have fond memories of dad cooking his famous steak, pork chops, burgers, chicken or brats? (If you’re not German or from Wisconsin, brats are a German sausage made from beef or pork. They are a staple at Wisconsin festivals and they even have a festival just for brats!) Back to grilling – We loved watching dad get the grill to the perfect temperature and maintain his grilling post. With summer heating up and Father’s Day around the corner, it’s time to heat up the grill and cook up some delicious foods. We have great advice and healthy grilling recipes for you.

Did you listen closely? Or were you just enjoying the time? Don’t worry we have you covered. Here are a few of our favorite bits of advice:
Advice from the Grill Masters
Choose a good cut of meat and don’t buy pre-made burgers
It’s harder to get a good tasting finished product if you don’t start with a choice cut. Take your time and pick out the best meat for your budget. If you are grilling burgers, then make your own burgers. Of course, we always pick grass-fed, organic and wild caught meats 😉.
Take the time to marinade
Let things marinate for a bit and you will get some great juicy flavors. The vinegar in your marinade will help tenderize and the oil will add juice. Marinate for 30 minutes to 2 hours depending on the meat.
Let the grill heat up!
Don’t add your meat before the grill is ready. You want to make sure you plan ahead to allow for time to let your grill heat up. Plan ahead grilling grasshopper!
Patience
Have patience in grilling- don’t play with your food! Leave the grill closed. Don’t keep flipping the meat. You should only have to flip it once and stop opening the lid! The meat isn’t going to get cooked any faster just because you are messing around with it. It will actually slow it down!
Don’t Flatten Your Burgers!
Do you flatten your burger, steaks, or other grilled eats with a spatula? Yeah- that just dries it out! Just leave it alone until its ready. So many great burgers happen if you have patience and let them grill.
Season and Make Your Own Way
The spice in life makes a difference. Add some flavors with your own seasoning. Apparently, you aren’t supposed to share your seasoning secrets either! Don’t worry we will share a few of ours and you can add your own spin!
Let it Rest
After you take your meats off the grill allow them to rest. The juices will redistribute throughout and allow for your grilling perfection to set. Just because that’s resting doesn’t mean you have to though! Make a salad. Like Mama’s Potato Salad or the Quinoa Non-Pasta Salad.
Avoid your food allergies
Well….. this wasn’t one from dad, but it should have been! We know lots of dads who recommend this now. Get your allergies tested and avoid them! Making your own rubs and marinades is a great way to grill your own way. Grilling can be healthy and an easy way to avoid food allergies. Don’t worry we have some recipes to help you!
